Most transactions of Grantcoin are recorded in a public ledger called the blockchain. (Exceptions include transactions between Twitter wallets.) Ledger entries are organized in blocks, and each block contains a record of the transactions that were processed by the Grantcoin network at a specific time.
The ledger can be viewed by anyone using software called a blockchain explorer. Blockchain explorers enable users to view the details of transactions in each block of the ledger; search for transactions by wallet address of the sender or recipient, or by block number or date and time; check the balance of any wallet address; and view other statistics about the currency network.
