Dear Grantcoin/Manna Community,
A lot has been going on behind the scenes, preparing for our rebranding as Manna and launch of the Mannabase platform. We’re excited by all the progress we’re making and can’t wait to share the new platform and whitepaper in the coming months.
We can’t thank the community enough for your patience during this transition, and we plan to make it well worth the wait. In the meantime, we have some important updates and information to share.
We are happy to say that we are on schedule with the development of Mannabase.com. The design team and developers have been making great strides and our new CTO, Doug Shubert, has been integral in ensuring proper underlying security and best practices.
We expect to launch the beta version of Mannabase in two phases:
- Phase 1: Signup, verification, and referral system — November
- Phase 2: Web-based wallets — December
Launch of Manna Currency
We will be launching the new Manna token in coordination with the beta launch of Mannabase. Those who were holding Grantcoin within the Ekata Social platform will have their GRT automatically converted into Manna and available on Mannabase. For those holding Grantcoin outside of Ekata, we will have a simple and easy-to-use method to convert your GRT into Manna once the new token has launched.
Accessing Grantcoin in Your Ekata Wallet
If you have recently checked your Ekata wallet balance in the Grantcoin blockchain explorer, you would have noticed it shows 0. This is because Ekata Social LLC sent the Grantcoin Foundation all the wallets where Grantcoin was previously being stored on Ekata Social — and for security reasons, we have transferred all of these funds into new wallets that can only be accessed by Grantcoin Foundation personnel.
If you would like to withdraw the GRT that was stored in your Ekata wallet before the launch of Mannabase, please email [email protected] using the email address you used to sign up for Grantcoin basic income distributions on Ekata. You will be asked to verify your mobile phone number via SMS — the same phone number you used to verify your signup for Grantcoin — and to provide an external GRT address where you would like us to send your coins.
There is no reason to withdraw, unless you need to access your Grantcoin in the next several weeks — your GRT is being safely stored by the Grantcoin Foundation pending launch of Mannabase. If you do choose to withdraw your GRT, we will complete your withdrawal request as soon as we can. Please allow up to one week for processing, since we are working at full capacity on the relaunch.
The Grantcoin/Manna email list has over 7,000 people now, with an average open rate of over 25% (a highly engaged base of supporters!), and we also have large followings on social media. As our community has grown, we have found it increasingly difficult to keep up with all the emails and questions we receive. This has been especially difficult in the past few weeks, as our team has been stretched to the limit with technological development, legal research, and writing a new whitepaper for the Manna relaunch.
If you’ve written to us recently and haven’t yet received a reply, we apologize for the delay and ask for your patience as we try to get caught up.
We know we need to improve our communications with our user base and the public. Therefore, we’re making some improvements in this high-priority area:
- Gabriel Brennan, an English teacher in South Korea and long-time Grantcoin supporter, has joined our core team and will be focusing on communications.
- We have added two new admins to our Facebook and Twitter pages.
- Next week, we will be launching a public Slack channel and a support ticket system on Freshdesk.
Q&A Video Series
As our project continues to develop and our community grows, it’s important that we can provide answers and clarifications to both common and more challenging questions. If you have any question regarding the Grantcoin/Manna project, please email it to [email protected] and we will try to include it in an upcoming Q&A video series. We hope to release our first video/podcast in late October and will continue to do so on an ongoing basis.
Manna White Paper
We are pleased to report that we have completed the first draft of the Manna white paper, which our team is in the process of reviewing and editing internally. It is a long and detailed document — nearly 30 pages. We expect to release the white paper to the public in November.
Exciting things are ahead. Thank you for your continued support!
